Applications & Processes

In DC acid copper plating processes for printed circuit boards, sensitive organic additives are used to promote grain refinement and leveling of the plated surface. These organic additives must be maintained at optimum concentrations to produce good quality circuit boards and to obtain maximum production yields. Standard Iridium Mixed Metal Oxide (MMO) coated anodes will oxidize the organic additives thereby increasing the additive consumption rates.

To overcome this shortcoming, MAGNETO developed its proprietary anode coating – Selecta® Ir MMO coating for this application. This coating has in many applications proven to be comparable to the standard soluble copper anodes in limiting the destruction of these organic additives.
